Several hundred attendees from across the East Midlands are expected at the event, including head teachers, governors, local councils, school representatives and students.
The showcase aims to raise awareness of the DCSF’s Framework for Sustainable Schools and to bring together organisations that can give practical solutions to achieve it.
Shining Earth™ has developed a unique web site that allows visitors and exhibitors to the Sustainable Schools Showcase to record the distance they travelled and the type of transportation used to and from the event.
The carbon emissions generated by the transport to the Showcase will be offset by 200% via a combination of projects in the UK with The Woodland Trust and via carbon credits purchased from The CarbonNeutral Company, qualifying the event as 'Beyond Carbon Neutral.’
Gareth Pickles, Director of Shining Earth™ says: “We are delighted to be working again with the Sustainable Schools Showcase team, providing our expertise to help capture and manage the offset of the carbon emissions associated with travel to and from the event.”
