In the first six months of 2011, the UK completed the construction of 101 turbines compared to 6 in Germany and 1 in Norway. 68 of those have now been connected to the grid, generating an additional 245MW of energy.
Walney Phase 1, situated off the Cumbrian coast in the Irish Sea, is now generating power from 55 turbines, with 23 more ready to be made operational. Walney Phase 2 has seen works begin on a further 60+ turbines.
Provisions for another 190 turbines are now in place spread across the Sheringham, London Array and Lincs wind farm zones.
