COP15 - Climate Change debate

Last month colleagues from Lincoln-based Delta-Simons Environmental Consultants, founding member of the Inogen Alliance, attended the Inogen Alliance WorldView Conference in Copenhagen ‘Business after COP15 – turning challenge into opportunity’.

The Conference bought together delegates from across the globe, including other Inogen Associates from across Europe, Russia, Mexico and the USA.

Business leaders gathered in the inspiring surroundings of the Schaeffergarden in Copenhagen to discuss the impact of COP 15 at a round table event organised by Inogen® at its Worldview Conference in December.  The event, held on the 11 December held in parallel to the COP15 negotiations, was attended by Coca-Cola, Absolut Vodka, ITT Water and Wastewater and Kuwait Petroleum.

As part of the conference a round table event was held which explored sustainability drivers and whether these were being progressed more vigorously by consumer demand or governmental targets.  The debate also considered business cases and benefits of carbon reporting and whether governments could assist business by clarifying and harmonising carbon reporting standards on a globalised basis. A very lively, forthright and interesting discussion ensued allowing business the opportunity to state its case and demonstrating that in many ways, it is business and not governments who are pioneering by responding  quickly to market and stakeholder engagement.

The next Inogen WorldView Conference ‘Where is the oil and gas industry going?’ will be held in Rio De Janerio on 15th April 2010, for further information please contact Alex Gray on alex.gray@deltasimons.com.
