The Luminous Group

To mitigate climate change and encourage developers to deliver more sustainable projects, the Government has produced a series of policies to aid the developer. Planning Policy Statement 1 looks specifically at sustainability initiatives and Planning Policy Statement 22 looks specifically at renewable energy.

The Luminous Group instructed Delta-Simons Shining Earth™ to carry out a full Sustainability Assessment in accordance with PPS1 and PPS22 of their development at Furze Street, Tower House London.

 

Outline / Scope of Works 

 

The key issues examined in this body of work were:

·         The potential for biomass CHP;

·         The potential for further renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar and photovoltaic;

·         The potential for recycling initiatives;

·         The potential for reduction of the Carbon Footprint;

·         Accessibility by walking, cycling, public transport and car;

·         The character of the surrounding area and the significance of the proposed scheme to the surrounding area;

·         Site stability and any contamination;

·         Existing buildings and structures and their potential for re-use;

·         Building material assessment;

·         Micro and Macro climate;

·         Water drainage and re-use schemes; and

·         Existing Bio diversity, habitat and potential for enhancement.

 

Outcome / Client Benefits

 

Through detailed research and consultation with key stakeholders Delta-Simons was able to deliver a menu of recommendations and initiatives for the proposed scheme to secure full planning for a more sustainable development.
